Dr. Litz grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended Auburn University and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 1997. Dr. Litz then practiced for several years as a critical care RN prior to attending dental school. He obtained his DDS degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 2004, then completed a three year specialty residency program in Periodontics at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2007. He simultaneously completed a residency in Periodontics at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Litz is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and is Board Certified through the American Board of Periodontology holding Diplomate status. He is past president of both the Alabama Society of Peridontists and the Birmingham District Dental Society. He currently holds a position as Clinical Associate Professor at the UAB School of Dentistry where he teaches in the Department of Periodontics.
Dr. Litz married his wife Ashley, also a Louisiana native, in 2003 and in October 2015, became the proud new parents of a baby boy named Sebastian. Dr. Litz enjoys tennis, photography, running and in 2014, completed the Chicago Marathon.
